Pensacola Aglow - Tea Time

The Pensacola Aglow Community Lighthouse held a beautiful Thanksgiving Tea Party on Thursday, Nov. 19. Each table was beautifully decorated with delicate china cups/ plates, colorful linen napkins. Fresh roses were attractively arranged on each table. We were escorted table by table to a buffet of the most delicious goodies you have ever tasted.Candlelight, violin and keyboard music played in the background...The tea was imported from England and women who were servers came to each table with a choice of three teas. The main point is that God was honored as 78 women attended, many first timers...They had to turn some women away who called at the last minute as the room in the church fellowship hall would not hold any more tables.

The President, Nita gave a very good presentation of what Aglow is about. Linda, an Aglow officer and a former teacher, gave a short history of the beginning of "tea time" in England and ended up with why we had 4 grains of corn at each plate to represent how some of the early pilgrims to America survived their second Thanksgiving here. Two women gave short testimonies. Ruth, also a former teacher, told how she and her women are reaching those in jail and how rewarding it is to pray for their salvation and healing; Ruth is coming on as a new board member. Pat, a newcomer to Aglow who attended her first Aglow Conference in Louisville, gave a very compelling testimony explaining how she fell into a curio cabinet at her home when she got up one night this past Feb. feeling dizzy. The shattered glass cut her throat, voice box and she could have bled to death. Delicate surgery was done immediately. She was told she might never speak again...but her voice was clear and not damaged. It was truly a miracle testimony. Each speaker did an outstanding job.

When the event was over no woman wanted to get up and leave...the presence of the Lord was there...friend brought friend. We are so happy about the progress of the Pensacola Aglow since 8 from there attended the Aglow Conference and they plan to meet monthly now. There was so much talent in the room the night of the candlelight tea party. Those of us on the Area Leadership Team said we were overwhelmed with what was accomplished by those Aglow leaders who worked so hard to put on the Thanksgiving Tea.. It was outstanding. Awesome. Amazing. And for me it was a fun event!!! I believe God was pleased with the creativity expressed and the Christian fellowship that was experienced.

Your new DNA: Proclamation

There's a new sound ringing across the globe; the sound of women ablaze with the glory of God. A good number of women from the NW Florida area attended the International Aglow Conference held last week in Louisville, Kentucky.

I love these highlights from the Saturday message delivered by Graham Cooke.
  • You must see yourself as an overcomer and get into that lifestyle now.
  • Don’t you love this recession? It means the enemy is running out of cash.
  • Your intimacy with God is the most intimidating thing about you (to the Devil).
  • The church is supposed to be saturated with majesty.
  • Don’t be overwhelmed by the world — be overwhelmed with who God is.
  • Stop praying like a widow and start praying like a bride.
  • You are irresistible! Grow to understand your own irresistibility in God’s heart.
  • Every problem comes with a provision attached to it.
  • Look at life through the eyes of the goodness of God.
  • A bride prays with 70% proclamation — only 30% petition.
  • We (Aglow) have grown up through petition and are now in a season of proclamation. We won’t stop praying, but we will learn proclamation.
  • God is retooling, reinventing and reshaping Aglow. Don’t let what you know get in the way of what you need to know.
  • We’re a new sound!
  • Start learning proclamation from your own journey — the things God has spoken to you need to come to pass in the next two to three years. Begin to proclaim “Lord, you said…” until it comes to pass.
  • Your new DNA: Proclamation.

You can read more conference highlights here.

When God's People Pray...

Consider the resources that God sends our way when we pray! Aglow has numerous groups that pray together consistently. Some pray for Israel, some pray for their neighborhoods, city and our nation.

A friend of a friend, an intercessor for Polk County, took this picture just recently with her Blackberry phone. Her team was on the way to anoint an airport road in Bartow to set angels at the entrance. They are praying to take back their county for God and He saw fit to show them that they were not alone.
When we join our hearts together with vision and purpose, God pours out His power.

Please send an email to nwflaglow@gmail.com if you would like to get connected.

America, Bless God!

Happy Independence Day! Blessings to you and yours for a wonderful 4th of July.

I was inspired this morning to revisit a video clip that almost brings me to tears everytime I watch it. This clip lasts less than 2 minutes and is a replay of the National Anthem sung by five girls. You've never heard it performed better than this!

You could hear a pin drop in this arena filled with thousands of rowdy fans as the girls sang.

The two young ladies on the right are six years old.
The two in the middle are seven and the one on the left is eight.

Is there a “Nevertheless” Stirring in You?

Our Aglow International President, Jane Hansen Hoyt sent a timely word to all Aglow women this month. Your NW Florida Area team wants you to hear her heart:

I love the victory of David in II Samuel 5.

And the king [David] and his men went to Jerusalem against the Jebusites, the inhabitants of the land, who spoke to David, saying, ‘You shall not come in here;’.... Nevertheless David took the stronghold of Zion (that is, the City of David. ) II Sam. 5:6-7 NKJV

Even though the enemy said to him, you can’t come in here because this is my territory; nevertheless, David took the stronghold of Zion. And, not only did he take it, he dwelt there, and renamed it, The City of David! Doesn’t that bring a smile to your face? That is what God is stirring in His people.

In tumultuous times there is a “nevertheless” in us, a choice to advance on the enemy and to not remain quiet. It is time to run to the battle line.
It is time our voice is heard.
It is time to take the territory from those who cry out in a threatening way saying, you can’t come in here.
It is time to rename it and make it a stronghold for God.
Even the world knows that the forward thrust of a movement is contingent upon people staying connected to one another, connected to a leader and connected to what they believe in.
If ever there was a time when we needed to be together, connected, moving forward and believing, it is now. The voice of believers needs to be heard in the earth in a united way.

For the past few years, Aglow’s voice has been advancing in strength and authority in the spirit realm. That is why “Lift Your Voice! Let it be Heard in all the Earth!” is our 2009 Worldwide Conference theme. It is a time to be joined together in heart, faith, and unity. I am urging you to be there with me!

Wake Up, America!

June 6th was a Special Day...

The Goal: To spend the day gaining a fresh vision regarding America’s history, America’s future and the role that we have in this critical hour.

The Format: A day in Donna Baber’s home in Lynn Haven with 16 women who came with hearts yearning to see God’s intended destiny for our nation fulfilled.

The Result: Hearts and minds forever changed and a renewed passion to watch and pray for God’s best for America.

In these crazy times we live in we can choose to be encouraged or discouraged. The root word is courage. Churchill said, “Courage is the first of human qualities because it is the quality that guarantees all others." An accompaniment to that are Ronald Reagan’s words “Evil is powerless if the good are unafraid.”

In the book of Isaiah Chapter 8 we read, “The people walking in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the shadow of death a light has dawned... For unto us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government shall be upon His shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”

Aglow women have a vision to multiply the message of love for this land and hope for the future. Donna Baber, Lynn Haven Lighthouse leader, has assembled packets that make it easy to duplicate the outreach that has created a stir in her neighborhood and in the community. You can contact her at freedomlighthouse@gmail.com for details.

We are truly looking to Jesus and calling on His name. He hears and answers! Our prayers can change the world we live in!

If you live in the NW Florida area, contact us at nwflaglow@gmail.com for details on Aglow meetings and events. As you can see from the photos, we always have a special time together.

An All-American lunch with Barbecue and Apple Pie.

Possessing the Kingdom Together!

This letter is from Joy Green, Southeast Director, Aglow International

What an amazing time to be alive! If we refer to our manual (the Bible) we find that the Lord loved to show up when the people of God became desperate for His presence. As we observe the world around us crumbling, let us look to the Author and Finisher of our faith. There is only one solution to our problems personally, corporately and as a nation – the Lord Jesus Christ. YOU are the solution (the salt) in the earth! It is a time for boldness in our prayers, in our homes and in our gatherings. We want to provoke the world to jealousy. As your neighbor looks for answers, give him Jesus. Let’s look from a heavenly perspective. All the earth is groaning to see the sons of God arise! So arise daughters of Zion and thresh your enemy. SEE him under your feet and dance on his head. Victory is assured – press in for the prize. Cast down all discouragement, weariness and unbelief. Let the confessions of your mouth change the atmosphere around you – let us believe the word of God again.

I am thrilled to announce a new Florida State Prayer Coordinator. Her name is Denise Ford and she resides in St. Petersburg, Florida. Some of you may remember her on the forum at our regional gathering in Orlando. She has a heart for the younger women and shared some tips on effective evangelism to reach them.

Many of you are aware that our international president, Jane Hansen-Hoyt has been asked to open the conference for Promise Keepers July 31, 2009 in Boulder, Colorado. It will be a gathering of men and women with the theme, “Time to Honor”. Women, the fathers of our faith and the poor will be honored. Please ask the Lord if you are to be in attendance and cover this event in prayer. What a day to be alive in the kingdom! Go to www.promisekeepers.org to register and see how to pray.

The theme of our upcoming Aglow conference October 22-25, 2009 is “Lift Your Voice!” Let the voice of the Lord shake the earth. Gather your women, rent buses and vans, have garage sales – get to conference! It will be an amazing time together. As I participated in an outdoor event for the National Day of Prayer in downtown Tampa, I was humbled to lift up the name of Jesus in the public square. There was a sense of unity, humility and authority. I expect to see amazing results from that day. I am convinced that this is the church’s greatest hour.

I leave you with my summary of Ephesians 2 – We are dead together! Alive together! Raised up together! Sit in heavenly places together! Possessing the kingdom together!

The time is now – will you answer the call?

With love and passion,
Joy Green
Southeast Director

A Time to Live Prepared

Jane Hansen Hoyt, President of Aglow International, wrote in the May/June newsletter to all Aglow women:

It is a Time to Live Prepared-
Over the years Aglow has ministered through disaster relief in wars, floods, fires, tsunamis, earthquakes, and hurricanes. About a year and a half ago, we began a program of emergency preparedness in the United States in which state coordinators help people prepare their families and neighborhoods for a disaster. Interested individuals have also taken training to become certified to “go behind the yellow line” to provide help and comfort to victims and emergency responders in actual disasters. We at our Worldwide Headquarters have prepared for a possible damaging earthquake and we have “off site” capability to carry on with the ministry should Seattle be hit.

And God has also prepared us in the spirit for the times we are currently living in. He has said that the darkness would grow darker, but the light would become brighter. We are seeing it come to pass. I have been reminded and blessed once again by the story of Joseph, a man who turned adversity into an opportunity for blessing.

For some time, I have had the sense that we like Joseph, need to prepare to be used in a similar way. With the current indicators of the signs of the times, it could well be a time to lay up provision for what might lie ahead for yourself and your family. Let me suggest some possible ways:

• Plant a garden this year.
• Cut every overhead expense that will keep you caught in an old, broken economic system.
• Have some cash on hand, as well as food, water, medical supplies, and firewood.
• And above all… BELIEVE.

*******************************************************************************

Your Northwest Florida Area Aglow Leadership Team wanted to bring this letter to your attention once again. A former Aglow leader from South Florida sent us the following Preparedness Test which you might find helpful. We are sharing this with you to bring hope and faith, not fear. As Jane said, “It is time to live prepared.” June 1st is the beginning of our hurricane season, so there is no better time to take this Preparedness Test!

Another valuable resource is A Believer’s Guide to Disaster Preparedness with many helpful websites. It is available through Diane Buker, A ministry of The Battle Axe Brigade, Inc. cost: $15 per manual. You can order HERE.

The Bells of Truth Are Ringing!

Remember how Jesus fought and won His war in the wilderness? He answered the adversary with the TRUTH by saying, “It is written.” It is the same for us today. As we are bombarded by a flood of words today sometimes it can be hard to find the truth. Jesus said, “And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall set you free.” What a wonderful weapon the truth is.

Throughout history, the Lord gave Israel instructions to keep certain feasts from generation to generation. This practice was continued in the New Testament. Jesus said in I Cor. 11:24-25, “do this in remembrance of Me,” in reference to the Lord’s Supper. He knew that it would be necessary for them to have something in place that would be passed down to future generations that would cause them to remember exactly what He had done for them. Their history was preserved as they came together and told their children of His awesome deeds on their behalf. He knew the deceiver would come and try to erase the knowledge of Him from their memories. Isn’t this what we see has happened in America? Who among us really knows the Truth about how the foundation was laid in this country by men who were inspired and led by God? The Main Character has been deleted from our history books so that today our children are not even told of our godly heritage and therefore have no idea that America has a divine destiny to fulfill - but divine inspiration was at work in every fiber of America’s beginnings and it is time to have those truths restored to us so that we can continue on course and attach ourselves to our Anchor once again.

This is what Freedom Lighthouse is all about!!! The Lord has put into our hands some wonderful tools to help proclaim the truth and to help restore what has been lost. God’s ways are higher than our ways. The war of all wars was fought and won in the wilderness by the words, “It is written”. Amazing! If you are like me – you’re wondering, “Oh God, what can I do – how can I make a difference? What is my part in this dark hour to help turn America back to God?”

Come and join us and rejoice in the wonderful opportunity He has given to us! Psalm 68:11says, “The Lord gives the word of power, the women who bear and publish the news are a great host.”
